What brought you to choose a healthcare career? Â
I have always had a passion for helping others. As a young teen, I volunteered with equine-assisted therapy for individuals with disabilities, which deepened my desire to make a difference. My first paying job was in the dining room of a nursing home, where I truly discovered my love for healthcare. I went on to spend 20 years in long-term care, serving in a variety of roles. My last hands-on position was as a Memory Care Director in an assisted living facility, a role that involved significant recruitment efforts. This experience sparked a new passion for connecting the right people with the right opportunities, leading me to VeloSource.

How Do You View Your Impact on Providing Healthcare Services to Our Communities?
As a recruiter primarily focused on OB/GYN physicians, I play a vital role in addressing the nationwide shortage of women's healthcare providers. Our clients range from sites in large cities to rural communities, all of which rely on us to fill critical gaps in care. By connecting skilled physicians with the hospitals and clinics that need them most, I help ensure that women receive the medical attention they need—especially during what can be one of the most vulnerable and challenging times in their lives. In many ways, I see my role as bringing together the essential puzzle pieces to support both healthcare providers and the communities they serve.
How do you build a foundation of trust with providers and continue to meet or exceed their expectations working with VeloSource?Â
Through honesty and clear, consistent communicationhealthcare providers and their communities. My goal is to establish lasting relationships, ensuring they feel comfortable reaching out to me at any time. Many providers have shared that they initially pursued locum opportunities with other companies but became frustrated by a lack of communication and gave up. I strive to prevent that by maintaining regular contact, keeping them informed throughout the process, and ensuring they understand each step. Even after a provider accepts a placement, I continue to check in, offering ongoing support to provide a positive experience.
What makes a successful physician recruiter?
Take the time to understand a client’s needs before beginning the recruitment process and gather as much information as possible to make the best match. Be patient, like any job, there will be difficulties, and some days may not yield quality conversations. However, being persistent and having a positive outlook make all the difference. Clear and honest communication with providers is essential to building trust and strong relationships. Additionally, asking for referrals is a valuable part of the process. When a provider refers to a colleague, it is the greatest compliment and a testament to the trust I have built.

Why is practicing locum tenens increasingly popular among providers?Â
Burnout plays a significant role in providers transitioning to locum tenens work. Many physicians are juggling 40–50-hour workweeks in clinics or offices, plus frequent on-call shifts and mandatory meetings, leaving little time for themselves or their families. Locum tenens offers a flexible schedule without the burden of administrative meetings, allowing providers to regain the work-life balance they desperately need.
What Are the Benefits of Practicing Locum Tenens vs. a Permanent/Employed Role?
As previously mentioned, one of the biggest benefits of practicing locum tenens over a permanent or employed role is improved work-life balance. Providers have the flexibility to create their schedules without the stress of taking time off. Locum work can also be highly lucrative, whether a provider is looking to replace a full-time position or supplement their income. Additionally, locum tenens offers the opportunity to travel, with positions available nationwide this allows providers to explore new locations while gaining valuable clinical experience.

Why do providers choose VeloSource? What makes us different from other agencies?Â
Because we are the best! But in all seriousness, I believe providers can tell from the moment they speak with any of us that we genuinely love what we do. Recruiting can often feel like a cutthroat industry, but at VeloSource, we take a different approach to supporting each other, working as a team, and celebrating each other’s successes.
Another thing that sets us apart is our commitment to our providers. If we do not have the perfect position available, our business development team actively markets on their behalf, reaching out to hospitals and clinics to find the right locum opportunity. We go the extra mile to ensure our providers find the best fit.
